“Hopscotch”

When we were kids we used to play a fun game called Hopscotch. We would toss a rock into a square and when it came time to cross that square we would hop over it continuing the patern of one foot, two feet. Once at the end, we would go back through the pattern and pick up the rock we tossed and hand it to the next person. I started to look at life in the same light, always trying to hop over the obstacles that were in my way. Always trying to think “positive” one foot, two feet, one foot, two feet, feeling the imbalances of life because I’m trying to avoid my problems. Unlike the rock from the game, my obstacles were far bigger. In the hopscotch of life, I realized the rocks we play with only turn into boulders the longer we don’t address it. We also try toss them far enough so we don’t have to deal with it now. It wasn’t until I got older that I realized life can’t be like hopscotch. Life is about facing our problems and chiseling them down through self awareness and sometimes it also means asking for help from the ones you love. It’s only then, we can really enjoy life.
