Children tend to mirror what they see. As children we are taught that light skin is more beautiful than black. What if we were taught that all skin colors have beauty? What if, instead of separating our community we were able to embrace each other and value ourselves not based on our skin but what’s under it? Our minds! That is the world we must bring our daughters into. They need learn to love every bit of themselves before they can love others too. If we can love every color of nails why should skin tone be any different? I made this digitally during the pandemic because this is the art I wanted to see when I was a little girl.
